Speaker:
Mikal Skuterud is a professor of economics at the University of Waterloo, Director of the Canadian Labour Economics Forum and a fellow-in-residence of the C.D. Howe Institute. His research focuses on Labour economics, economics of immigration, and hours of work.

- Julien Champagne, Principal Researcher, Bank of Canada. His research interests include applied macroeconomics, monetary policy and labour markets.

Background:
Canada’s non permanent resident (NPR) population has surged in recent years reaching over 2.2 million by the end of 2023. This group includes many low skilled temporary foreign workers as well as many foreign students. The NPR population has had an impact on the Canadian economy and its productivity. The webinar will explore the issue and suggest relevant policies.
