Join us for a free webinar on Youth entrepreneurship in the Prairies.

This report examines youth entrepreneurship in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, drawing on the 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Canada Adult Population Survey and earlier survey years to track changes over time. It focuses on youth aged 18–34 and compares them with older adults aged 35–64, using Canada-wide results as a benchmark. More than 4,000 respondents were surveyed across the Prairie provinces in 2025, including nearly 1,400 youth. A key measure used in the analysis is Total early-stage Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA), the share of adults aged 18–64 who are starting a business or running a new business that has paid wages, salaries, or other payments to its owners for more than three months but no more than 42 months.
