SUMMARY:Youth entrepreneurship in the Prairies - Free Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free webinar on Youth entrepreneurship in the Prairies.\nThis report examines youth entrepreneurship in Alberta\, Saskatchewan\, and Manitoba\, drawing on the 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Canada Adult Population Survey and earlier survey years to track changes over time. It focuses on youth aged 18–34 and compares them with older adults aged 35–64\, using Canada-wide results as a benchmark. More than 4\,000 respondents were surveyed across the Prairie provinces in 2025\, including nearly 1\,400 youth. A key measure used in the analysis is Total early-stage Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA)\, the share of adults aged 18–64 who are starting a business or running a new business that has paid wages\, salaries\, or other payments to its owners for more than three months but no more than 42 months. \nSpeaker: \nAmanda Williams is an Associate Professor in the School of Communication Studies in the Faculty of Business\, Communication Studies and Aviation at Mount Royal University. \nPanelists: \nJanine De Castro founder of Echelon Fragrances.  An independently owned fragrance brand offering a curated collection of unisex perfumes designed to make luxurious fragrances accessible and affordable. \nLauna Austin is founder of Husky Jocks. A Canadian\, female-owned athletic apparel company creating inclusive\, thoughtfully designed baseball pants for young athletes of all shapes and sizes. By prioritizing comfort and fit\, Husky Jocks removes barriers to participation so every player can focus on what matters most: playing the game they love. \nModerator: \nPeter Josty\, Executive Director \, THECIS. \n  \nTime: 10:00 – 11:00 Mountain time ; 9:00-10:00 Pacific time; 10:00-11:00 Saskatchewan time; 12:00-1:00 Eastern time \nDate:  Tuesday October 27th \nPlace: By Zoom \nRegistration \nBy Email:  martha@thecis.ca\nBy Phone: 1-403-968-3722\nOnline: *Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link \nPlease note:  a QR code will be generated when you register online\, but this is not active as this is not an in-person event. \nUpon registration Martha will send you the Zoom link prior to the webinar date. \nPlease share this invitation with anyone you think would be interested. \n  \nPeter\nPeter Josty\, PhD\, MBA\nExecutive Director\,\nThe Centre for Innovation Studies (THECIS)\,\nP.O.
