DESCRIPTION:How to keep Canadian high-tech startups at home.\nIt is a challenge to keep high tech startups in Canada as so many of them get acquired and moved to the US. A study by Leaders Fund found that only 32.4% of Canadian-led “high-potential” startups launched in 2024 were headquartered in Canada\, a decline from 76% in the previous decade. \nWe can learn from what the UK is doing. The UK’s tech sector is valued at $1.2 trillion US\, the largest in Europe. However\, it faces many of the same problems that Canada does – access to capital\, the tax environment and access to talent.  43% say they are actively considering relocating outside the UK.
